Emilie O’Connor started 009Textiles in 2003. It is based in West London, and uses crafts people from Pakistan, India, Italy, Ireland, and of course the UK. Emilie is the main designer, and she has a degree from St Martin’s School of Art in theatre design. Her philosophy is to marry superb natural and inherited crafts with modern sophisticated tastes and needs. The key factor is the personal quality of the handicraft, and she has built up relationships of production that result in lasting artefacts.

Emilie is inspired by unusual and vivid or subtle colour combinations, and the unexpected use of materials from other walks of life not ordinarily associated with fabrics and interior design. Her collection reflects not only the classic motifs, but also city landscapes and modern day living. As such her designs appeal to all ages.
